What Three Crosses Mountain marks

The crosses were first placed on the hill in 1708 to commemorate townspeople who died in a plague epidemic. The set standing today was made in 1852, with most of the inscriptions added in 1930, so the memorial has been renewed across the centuries on the same spot.

The summit is the town's signature viewpoint, looking down over the roofs of Kazimierz Dolny, along the curve of the Vistula and across to the ruined castle at Janowiec on the far bank. It is a popular spot near sunset.
