The Przybyla Houses on the Rynek
These twin tenement houses were built around 1615 for the wealthy merchant brothers Mikolaj and Krzysztof Przybyla. They stand out at once on entering the market square, combining local building traditions with Italian and Dutch Renaissance influence.
The carved saints on the facades
The fronts are covered with bas-relief carving, including large figures of the brothers' patron saints: St Nicholas the bishop and St Christopher carrying the Christ child across the river. The dense stone decoration is what draws photographers to this corner of the Rynek.
