What to see at EC1 Łódź
EC1 splits into two halves. The Centre of Science and Technology fills the former turbine and boiler halls with interactive exhibits threaded through preserved industrial machinery, while a separate wing houses Planetarium EC1 and its 8K dome show. The complex also runs cinema screenings, concerts and temporary exhibitions.
The power plant behind EC1
The buildings began life as Łódź's first municipal power station, with EC1 East entering service in 1907. It kept generating heat and power for residents into the early 2000s before the shell was restored and reopened as a culture and science venue, keeping much of the original ironwork and equipment in view.
Where EC1 is in Łódź
EC1 stands at Targowa 1/3, immediately beside the Łódź Fabryczna railway and coach station, which makes it one of the easiest attractions to reach on arrival. It sits a short walk east of Piotrkowska Street.
