Weather & Packing
How many days do you need in Poland?
Quick answer
Four days is enough for one city and a day trip. A week lets you pair Krakow with the Tatra Mountains, or add Gdansk and the Baltic coast. Ten days covers the classic triangle of Krakow, Warsaw and Gdansk without rushing.
It depends on how much of the country you want. Four days suits one city with a day trip; a week lets you add mountains or the coast; ten days covers the classic circuit at an easy pace.
By length of trip
| You have | A good plan |
|---|---|
| 3 to 4 days | One city (usually Krakow) plus a day trip such as Wieliczka or Auschwitz-Birkenau. |
| 5 to 7 days | Krakow and the Tatra Mountains at Zakopane, or Krakow paired with Gdansk and the coast. |
| 10 days | The triangle of Krakow, Warsaw and Gdansk, with a day trip or two, unhurried. |
| 2 weeks | Add Wroclaw, Poznan, Torun or the Masurian lakes to the triangle. |
How to choose
First-time visitors usually start in Krakow, which has the densest cluster of sights and day trips. With more time, the fast intercity trains make it easy to string cities together. Our Poland in ten days route lays out one full itinerary.
