Weather & Packing
What should I pack?
Quick answer
Pack layers in any season. Summers are warm (20-30C) but bring occasional rain; spring and autumn need a jacket; winters are cold (often below 0C) and call for a warm coat, hat and waterproof boots.
Pack for layers whatever the season, because Polish weather shifts through the day. A light waterproof is worth carrying at any time of year. The rest depends on when you come.
By season
- Summer (Jul to Aug): light clothes for 20 to 30C days, plus a rain jacket for occasional storms and something warmer for cool evenings.
- Spring and autumn: a mix of layers and a proper jacket; mornings and nights are cool even when afternoons are mild.
- Winter (Dec to Feb): a warm coat, hat, gloves and waterproof boots, since temperatures often sit below zero and snow is common.
Whatever the month
Bring comfortable shoes for cobbled old towns, a plug adapter for the local sockets, and modest cover for shoulders and knees if you plan to enter churches. Decide your dates first with when to visit Poland, then pack to match.
