The Renaissance synagogue at the heart of Jewish Zamość
The Zamość Synagogue was raised in brick between roughly 1610 and 1618, taking on the parapet-attic style of the surrounding townhouses. It is counted among the most important pieces of Jewish heritage architecture in Poland and one of the country's only Renaissance synagogues.
How the Zamość Synagogue Centre was restored
Returned to the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland in 2005, the building underwent a major restoration and reopened in 2011 as a museum and cultural centre presenting the history of the Jews of Zamość and the region.
