The short answer
Bus 106 links Wroclaw airport with the main railway station. A single ticket costs 4.60 PLN and covers one ride on one bus or tram, while time tickets start at 3.20 PLN for 15 minutes. A 24-hour ticket costs 15 PLN and a 72-hour ticket 32 PLN.
Wrocław's Old Town is compact enough to walk, so for many visitors public transport is mostly about the airport and the odd longer hop. The city runs trams and buses on one set of tickets, and the only real decision is whether you want a ticket for a ride or a ticket for a length of time.
How do you get from Wroclaw airport to the city centre?
By bus 106. The city's route listing shows line 106 running between Port Lotniczy, the airport, and Dworzec Główny, the main railway station, with stops along the way that include Renoma and Bastion Sakwowy close to the centre. Check the live timetable on the city's transport pages for departure times on the day you travel.

Which ticket do you need for bus 106 in Wroclaw?
Any valid city ticket. If the airport bus is your only ride, a single ticket at 4.60 PLN is enough. If you will change to a tram at the station or ride again soon after, a time ticket is the better buy, because the single ticket covers only one ride and a change would mean buying another. The city notes that tickets bought from machines on trams and buses are loaded onto your payment card and cannot be paid for in cash, while paper tickets can only be printed outside the vehicles, at kiosks and machines at stops.
How much is a tram or bus ticket in Wroclaw?
These are the standard fares published by the city, with the reduced fare for eligible passengers in brackets. A single ticket costs 4.60 PLN (2.30) on all lines. A 15-minute ticket costs 3.20 PLN (1.60), a 30-minute ticket 4.00 PLN (2.00), a 60-minute ticket 5.20 PLN (2.60) and a 90-minute ticket 7.00 PLN (3.50).
For longer stays, a 24-hour ticket costs 15.00 PLN (7.50), a 48-hour ticket 26.00 PLN (13.00), a 72-hour ticket 32.00 PLN (16.00) and a 168-hour ticket, a full week, 54.00 PLN (27.00).
Is a single ticket or a time ticket better in Wroclaw?
For a short hop, the time ticket usually wins. The 30-minute ticket at 4.00 PLN is cheaper than the single ticket at 4.60 PLN and lets you change vehicles within that half hour. The city describes the single ticket as entitling you to one journey on a bus or a tram, on normal and suburban or on express and night lines, so it is best kept for one straight ride.
For a sightseeing day, the 24-hour ticket at 15 PLN pays for itself on the fourth or fifth ride, and the 72-hour ticket at 32 PLN is cheaper than three separate day tickets.
What is the URBANCARD in Wroclaw?
It is Wrocław's city card. Named tickets are loaded onto a personalised URBANCARD printed with the holder's photo, name and surname, while bearer tickets go on a non-personalised card marked NA OKAZICIELA, and time tickets can also be loaded onto an URBANCARD. A visitor staying a few days does not need one, because the ordinary tickets above are valid on every line.
Do you need public transport in Wroclaw at all?
Less than in most cities of its size. The Market Square, the university and Cathedral Island are close together, and hunting for the
Wroclaw dwarfs is a walk by definition. A tram earns its fare for Centennial Hall and the edges of the city. The full list is in
