What are the passport requirements?
Quick answer
Non-EU visitors need a passport valid for at least three months beyond their planned departure and issued within the last ten years. EU and EEA citizens can travel with a national ID card instead.
Non-EU visitors need a passport that meets two separate conditions. It must be valid for at least three months after the date you plan to leave the Schengen Area, and it must have been issued within the previous ten years. Both apply at once, so an older passport that still has months left on it can be refused if it was issued more than ten years ago.
EU and EEA citizens
Citizens of the EU, the EEA and Switzerland can travel to Poland with a valid national identity card and do not need a passport at all. Children usually need their own document.
A practical check before you fly
Look at both the issue date and the expiry date on your passport, then compare them against your return date. If either condition falls short, renew before travelling. Airlines check these rules at check-in, so a passport that does not qualify can stop the trip before you reach the border.

Travellers from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and many other countries can enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Other nationalities need a Schengen visa.
