Getting Around Gdansk: Airport Train, Buses and the SKM

The short answer

From Gdansk airport, take a train to Gdansk Glowny or Srodmiescie with a change at Gdansk Wrzeszcz, or bus 210, for which the airport gives about 40 minutes between the centre and the airport. Night bus N3 runs between 23:00 and 4:00. Trains also run from the airport to Sopot and Gdynia.

Gdańsk is one of three cities strung along the coast, and its transport is built for moving between them. For a visitor the two journeys that matter are the airport run and the train north to the seaside towns, and both are straightforward once you know where to change.

How do you get from Gdansk airport to the city centre by train?

The airport station can be reached from inside the terminal by a covered footbridge. Gdańsk Airport states that you can take the train from there to the centre of Gdańsk, to Gdańsk Główny or Gdańsk Śródmieście, and that this journey requires a change at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, where SKM trains to the centre leave from platform 3.
Wrzeszcz is also one of the areas compared in where to stay in Gdansk, if you are still choosing a base.

Which bus goes from Gdansk airport to the city centre?

Bus 210 is the direct link with the centre. Gdańsk Airport lists it on the route Dworzec Główny to Osowa PKP and gives about 40 minutes for the ride from the centre of Gdańsk to the airport. Bus 110 links the airport with Wrzeszcz railway station, with about 25 to 35 minutes from its first stop to the airport, and bus 120 comes from the Łostowice Świętokrzyska terminus, with about 50 to 60 minutes to the airport. The airport also notes bus connections from Sopot.
The city bus stops are opposite the passenger terminal, next to the P1 car park.

Is there a night bus from Gdansk airport?

Yes. Night line N3 runs from Dworzec Główny through the centre and the western districts to the airport, and then on to Wrzeszcz railway station. The airport gives its hours as 23:00 to 4:00, which covers most late arrivals.

Where do you pay for the airport train in Gdansk?

On the platform or in an app. The airport states that tickets can be bought from machines on the platforms, which accept cash and payment cards, through mobile apps including those of the rail operator Polregio and several ticketing apps, and through the regional FALA system, either in its app and passenger portal or at FALA machines and readers at stations. For long-distance trains onwards from Gdańsk, see how to buy train tickets in Poland.

How do you get from the airport to Sopot or Gdynia by train?

Gdańsk Airport states that you can reach Sopot or Gdynia by train from the airport, either on direct trains running through Gdańsk Wrzeszcz or with a change there, at platform 3. For what to see once you arrive in Sopot, see things to do in Sopot.
If you are still deciding which town to base yourself in, that choice is weighed up in Gdansk or Sopot. The coast also makes a good base for day trips from Gdansk.

How long is an SKM ticket valid?

It depends on distance. Under the PKP SKM tariff, a single ticket for up to 50 km is valid for 3 hours from the time of issue or the time you specify, for 51 to 100 km it is valid for 6 hours, and for 101 km or more it is valid for one day. Return tickets marked there and back are valid until midnight on their date.
ZTM Gdańsk's site also lists a metropolitan ticket, so check its current range if you plan to mix trains, trams and buses in one day. For the main sights once you are in the centre, see things to do in Gdansk.
