The Archaeological Reserve (Rezerwat Archeologiczny), a branch of the Częstochowa Museum, covers a cemetery of the Lusatian culture from the early Iron Age, roughly 750 to 550 BCE. Skeletal and cremation burials are shown in situ, in the place they were found.
Why the Lusatian cemetery matters
Sources describe it as the only in-situ Lusatian cemetery from the Hallstatt period preserved anywhere in the world. A permanent exhibition, 'From the Darkness of History', adds ceramic vessels, ornaments, tools and weapons from the period.
