Why these four
Malbork is the largest castle in the world by land area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a short train from Gdansk. Wawel in Krakow was the seat of Polish kings for five centuries. The Royal Castle in Warsaw was rebuilt from wartime rubble to house its coronation rooms again, and Lublin Castle keeps a Gothic chapel painted with rare Byzantine-style frescoes.
